Photos from the Jazz Band performance at the SecurTek 10th Anniversary Banquet have been added to the Photos section. The Concert Band performed at the grand opening of the Western Financial Group City Centre Park on June 25th. Some band members will also be participating in the parades for this years fair. Have a great summer everyone and we'll see you all in the fall.

Yorkton's Centennial Big Band will be performing for the Football Alumni Banquet at the St. Mary's Cultural Centre on Saturday, May 2nd. The Yorkton Community Concert Band will be performing two spring concerts in May. The first concert is on Tuesday, May 5th at the Bentley Retirement Community and the second is on Tuesday, May 12th at the Queen Elizabeth Court. After that the bands will take a break for the summer.

The Yorkton Community Concert Band and Yorkton's Centennial Big Band will perfom in the Yorkton Music Festival on March 30th and March 31st.

December 17, 2008

The Yorkton Community Concert Band was pleased to be part of a Christmas concert at St. Andrew's United Churh on Sunday, December 14th. The entire performance was recorded and can now be downloaded from our new downloads section. Also check out the new photos from this years Bentley Christmas Concert. We have one more performance this Sunday, Dec. 21st at Westview United Church before we take a break for the Holiday season. Band rehearsals will resume on Tuesday January 6th, 2009.

November 30, 2008

The Yorkton Community Concert Band will be spreading some Christmas cheer throughout December. They will perform Tuesday Dec. 2nd at the Yorkton Nursing Home at 6:30 p.m. and at the Bentley Retirement Community at 7:30 p.m. Then on December 14th they will be part of a Christmas Concert at St. Andrews United Church. After that the band will take a break until January 6th, 2009 when rehearsals will resume.

The Yorkton Community Concert Band will perform for the Remembrance Day Ceremonies at the Gallagher Centre Flexi-Hall on November 11th starting at 10:30 a.m.

Yorkton Community Concert Band

The Yorkton Community Concert Band is a non-profit volunteer organization that plays concert band music for recreation and community service in and around the Yorkton area. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for people from Yorkton and surrounding communities to pursue their musical interests. New players are always welcome so if you play a wind instrument or are interested in learning one please come and join us. We get together for rehearsal every Tuesday night at the Yorkton Regional High School band room starting at 7:00 p.m. Jazz band rehearsal follows beginning at 8:45 p.m. If you have any questions regarding our group you can contact our director, Larry Pearen at (306)782-4182 or our president, Grant Hoffman at (306)792-4534 or email us.

Yorkton’s Centennial Big Band

This group was started in 1999 under the name "Yorkton Community Jazz Band" and later changed the name to "Yorkton's Centennial Big Band" in 2004. It consists of members from the Yorkton Community Concert Band as well as other people from the Yorkton area. We play material from the big band era plus songs from the modern day era as well. We also have a feature vocalist, Jackie Washenfelder who performs a number of songs with the group. Last years performances included the "Downtown Jazz and Blues Series" and "A Taste of Yorkton".
