Yorkton Community Concert Band
The Yorkton Community Concert Band was formed over ten years ago with just a handful of players. Since then the band has grown into a group of thirty to forty people. The band has played all over the city of Yorkton as well as some of the communities surrounding Yorkton. The group has also traveled to Regina for the Downtowners Optimist Band Festival in 1999 and 2000 and has participated in several Regina Lions adult band workshops as well. The band also competes in the Yorkton Music Festival every year and received the highest mark of any band in the 2005 festival.
The band is made up of people ranging in age from eighteen to seventy and over. There are members who have played an instrument for many years as well as some who have just learned to play over the past few years. We are always looking for new players and have a beginner program setup for people who would like to learn how to play an instrument and be part of our group. If you don't have an instrument we have some available to rent.
The cost to join the group is very reasonable at only $80.00 a year and if you prefer can be broken down into two payments, $40.00 from September to the end of December and another $40.00 from January to May. The group takes a break for the summer starting around the middle of May through to the middle of September.
